The history of Brampton dates as far back as Roman times when evidence suggests the village housed both an export dock and a manufacturing centre. There was also a Roman bath located right at the heart of the village – all of which makes it all the more appropriate that the village sign is in fact lifted directly from a Roman emblem. The village may not be any kind of throbbing commercial or industrial centre right now, but it’s hard to deny that to change Brampton in any way would be to rob it of its uniquely traditional charm.
