The monosyllabic village of Howe takes its name from haugr – an Old Norse word that refers to ‘someone who lived by a small hill or a man-made mound or barrow.’ Quite the mouthful for such a short town name, isn’t it? Now home to around 50 people across 21 households, Howe has always been a tiny village with a very traditional way of life. The village is home to one of the famed 124 round-tower churches still standing in Norfolk, which have been around for as long as 1,000 years. Despite being within such easy reach of the bustling streets of Norwich, Howe really couldn’t feel further removed from hectic modern-day life!

So that’s the history lesson taken care of, but why is it that we’re so interested in tiny little villages like Howe, anyway? The short answer…well, it’s not just a case of village pride, but the pride we have for the entire county of Norfolk. Take My Scrap Car was born here and remains based here to this day, exclusively serving the good people of Norfolk with an equally exclusive service package.

The long and short of it being that if you have a scrap car in Howe to get rid of, we can assure you that you will not find a better deal anywhere else. We know what our customers want and that’s exactly what we deliver. Simplicity, prompt service, a responsible service and quite simply the most rewarding service anywhere in the county. In fact, whatever it is you don’t like about traditional car scrapping is something we do the exact opposite way around.

Rather than bringing your car to us, we will come to you no matter where you are. Rather than working around our opening hours, we operate at times to suit you. And instead of having to pay us a penny for any of the services we offer, we promise to pay the best possible price for every vehicle we take, calculated in accordance with market values at the time.

Responsible Howe car scrapping and recycling really couldn’t be more important. But at the same time, you can’t realistically expect everyone to do the right thing if doing so is complicated or expensive.

The way we see it, the solution to the country’s escalating recycling crisis is simple – stop making it far too complicated and difficult to get the job done!
